Green Juice Smoothie

Looking for your next breakfast juice recipe? Well, there is no juicing involved in this breakfast juice recipe. This Green Juice Smoothie is one of my “go-to” morning juices because it is easy, refreshing, yummy, and full of nutrition.

I created this morning juice recipe after drinking a green smoothie at a coffee shop in Klamath Falls, OR. Jacob and I attended the Winter Wings Festival this past February and on our way out of town, we picked up some coffee and breakfast from A Leap of Taste. After a long weekend of eating out and dining on hotel room snacks, I wanted something green, juicy, and full of nutrients. So, I ordered myself a Green Dream.

That smoothie was hydrating, refreshing, and most importantly delicious. When I got home, I had to recreate it. My smoothie might not be exact, but I got pretty close, and I even found some superb substitutions and additions.

This Green Juice Smoothie, has apple juice, pineapple, Greens Powder (but you could use cucumber and frozen spinach instead), ginger, and lemon, and I add a little unflavored protein powder to aid in satiety and help me to balance and meet my daily protein goals.

In the following article, I will discuss why you will love this smoothie, the ingredients, how easy it is to make it, and some education about how you can mix and match ingredients to make a healthy and flavor-packed smoothie.

How to Make This Morning Juice

Add the ingredients to a blender, starting with liquids. Blend until smooth.

Pro tip: Give the blender a quick rinse immediately after making your smoothie. This will prevent the smoothie residue from drying and makes for super easy cleanup!

Sharper Nutrition Fix: How you can mix and match ingredients to make a delicious smoothie

When creating smoothies, I follow my smoothie blueprint. I always include Liquid, Fruit/Veggies, Flavor, and sometimes something from the Other category.

Liquid: The liquid is the base of the smoothie. It allows the ingredients to blend into a smooth beverage.

Fruit/Veggies: Fruits and Veggies not only add nutrition, but they also add bulk and flavor to the smoothie.

Flavor: For even more flavor, I’ll add many combinations of ingredients. Examples:

  • Green Juice Smoothie: I add ginger and lemon juice for a refreshing flavor and a bit of zing.
  • Almond Joy Smoothie: I add dates, coconut, and cocoa powder for the sweet, coconutty, and chocolate flavors.

Other: I often supplement my smoothies with a little something extra. Sometimes I add fiber, sometimes I add protein, and sometimes I add a bit of both!
